[Article] The Doctors Agree

"Those who fail to take the time to be healthy will ultimately have to take the time to be sick."
~ Dr. James Chappell

"We will always crave the elements to which we are most toxic." & "Sugar and salt are the most addicting substances in the planet, bar none. Cocaine and Heroin do not hold a candle to these two chemicals."
~ Roger Bezanis in his book "PH Madness"

"If you're like most people, you reach for a sugar substitute because you've been told it's good for you; that it would save you from the evils of sugar, and that it would even help you trim off those extra pounds. But, like all of us, you've been lied to.

"So let me set the record straight now. Aspartame is one of the most dangerous substances ever added to food. Not only has aspartame been proven to make you fatter, it's been proven to cause some pretty serious diseases, not the least of which are cancer and neurological diseases." - Dr. Douglass

"My general rule: Be a smart label reader.

"Labels contain both the ingredients and specific (but not all) nutrition information. If the label lists any ingredients that you don’t recognize, you should likely stay away from it.

"Don’t be duped by marketing. Remember, the front of the label is food marketing at its most clever. It is designed to seduce you into an emotional purchase and may contain exaggerated claims.

"Check the order of ingredients. The most abundant ingredient is listed first and then the others are listed in descending order by weight. If the real food is at the end of the list and sugars or salt are at the beginning of the list, beware.

"Look for additives or problem ingredients. If the product contains high-fructose corn syrup or hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils, put it back on the shelf.

"Ask yourself: Would your great-grandmother have served this food? Before you analyze the numbers, ask yourself if this food could have been served at your great-grandmother’s table. She only served real food.

"Investigate unfamiliar ingredients. Search the Internet to find 'credible' sources of information about any unfamiliar ingredients on the label before you buy. These include such as carmine, Quorn, and diacylglycerol." - Dr. Mark Hyman

"But Raederle, how do I know if it's creditable source?"

Oh, it's easy. Are they trying to shove a product down your throat repeatedly throughout their website? Then they are not creditable. Are they reviewing their own product? Not creditable. Do they state any of their sources? And so forth.

"We have processed the goodness out of our foods, ingested toxic metals from our cooking methods, increased the fat intake, decreased the dietary fiber with chronic constipation and degenerative diseases as a consequence. But the biggest threat to our health is the enormous intake of sugar, splenda, aspartame (Nutrasweet, Sweet 'N Low) and other refined sugars. There is also consistent evidence of contaminated poultry and injection of antibiotics and hormones into meat. So what does the American public think? Are they just going to eat this meat anyway? I guess they are. But don't try to sell me the idea that we have the best food in the world. Is it not ironic that we have a special "health food" section? What shall we call those other foods? "Unhealthy foods"? You know, we should." - Dr. Luc De Schepper, MD, LAc, PhD

"Raederle, are there any sugars that are safe?"

Yes, actually, there are!

"Oh, like agave?"

No! Like the sugar found in a carrot!

"Sugar? In a carrot?"

Yes! In a carrot! There is enough sugar in a carrot to provide all the sugar you need for an entire day.

"Optimum health, disease-free living, increased energy and no medical bills or need for synthetic pharmaceuticals are just some of the benefits I have enjoyed since becoming an Advanced Scientific Health Researcher." - Scott Thurston

"Does our government protect us from toxic 'foods'? [But doesn't the FDA protect us?]

"Of course not!

"Instead, through powerful lobbying efforts, the food industry was able to put a big loophole in trans fat labeling laws.

"That means you can now buy the same old junk food -- with “zero” trans fats. But read the label’s fine print, and you’ll find the words “hydrogenated fats.”

"The catch: Unless you know food chemistry, you probably don’t know that hydrogenated fats are the very same thing as trans fats!

"Is this false advertising? Well, not exactly.

"According to the new law, manufacturers can claim that their products are trans-fat-free if they contain less than 0.5 grams of trans fats per serving (1/2 cup)." - Dr. Mark Hyman

"The reason acidosis is more common in our society is mostly due to the typical American diet, which is far too high in acid producing animal products like meat, eggs and dairy, and far too low in alkaline producing foods like fresh vegetables. Additionally, we eat acid producing processed foods like white flour and sugar and drink acid producing beverages like coffee and soft drinks. We use too many drugs, which are acid forming; and we use artificial chemical sweetners like NutraSweet, Spoonful, Sweet 'N Low, Equal, or Aspartame, which are poison and extremely acid forming. One of the best things we can do to correct an overly acid body is to clean up the diet and lifestyle." - The Natural Cures They Don't Want You To Know About Website

"Thy food shall be thy remedy." and "Nature is the true healer. The physician is only nature's assistant." - Hippocrates

No more 'Buts'.

"I firmly believe that if the whole materia medica as now being used could be sunk to the bottom of the sea, it would be all the better for mankind and all the worse for the fish." - Dr. Oliver Wendell Holmes

"We do not get a disease. We create a disease by reducing our natural immunity through wrong eating, thinking and living. All diseases are curable. But not all patients are curable. we have to focus on the patient rather than the disease." - Dr. Bernard Jensen

"The basic conditions which lead to disease are either nutrient deficiencies or toxic accumulations in the body." - Dr. Bernard Jensen

"I began to suspect the close relationship between health and proper eating habits when, early in my career as an overworked young doctor, my own health broke down. I have always been a man of great curiosity and as I investigated deeply the chemistry of food along new lines, I came to the conclusion that I, personally must give up the use of drugs and henceforth rely solely on food as medicine. It was not long until, after repeated verified results, I discarded drugs in treating my patients. My colleagues, at the time, thought I had lost my mind. But time has only strengthened my belief." - Henry G. Bieler, M.D.

"All diseases are related to increased levels of toxic substances in the body." - Dr. Donald Bodeen

"We are the world's wealthiest country-yet one the unhealthiest. we are flabby, overweight, and have a lot of dental caries, fluoridation notwithstanding. Our gastrointestinal system operates like a spluttering gas engine. We cannot sleep; we cannot get going when we are awake. we have neuroses; we have high blood pressure. Neither our hearts nor our heads last as long as they should. Coronary disease at the peak of life has hit epidemic proportions. Suicide is one of the leading causes of death (fourth between the ages of of fifteen and forty four). We suffer from a plethora of the diseases of civilization." - Herbert Ratner, M.D.

"It is important to remember that the mere introduction of germs into the living organism does not ensure their multiplication or the production of disease. The condition of the organism itself has much influence on the result. Pasteur has certainly made a hasty generalization in declaring that the only condition which determines an epidemic is the greater or less abundance of germs." - John Shaw Billings

"Modern man ends up a vitamin-taking, antacid-consuming, barbiturate-sedated, aspirin-alleviated, Benzedrine-stimulated, psychosomatically diseased, surgically despoiled animal. Nature's highest product turns out to be a fatigued, peptic-ulcerated, tense, headachy, over-stimulated, neurotic, tonsil-less and appendix-less creature." - Herbert Ratner, M.D.

"We tend to think of health as something that comes in a capsule purchased over the counter in a drugstore, instead of as a state which we attain by following the laws of nature." - Henry G. Bieler, M.D.

"Though scientists do not all agree till now on the relationship between illness and nutrition, but evidence is mounting and there is a general consensus that the quality and quantity of foods we consume in our affluent society and our sedentary lifestyle are the main factors causing many forms of cancer, cardiovascular and other degenerative diseases." - Dr. Ted Cooper, Former US assistant health secretary

"Breast cancer, the biggest killer of women among all cancers, exists where high saturated-fat consumption is present. It is relatively uncommon among American women of Puerto-Rican decent whose diet contains little saturated fats and cholesterol." - Dr. Earnest Wiender, Director NIH, New York

"What most people do not know is that the only thing that drugs do is alleviate the symptoms, and that they do not help in regaining the body's health and well being. Drugs do not cure. Nature and nutrition do." - Dr. Bernard Jensen & Dr. Donald Bodeen

"There are three kinds of medicines. The lowest is poisonous, the middle is a little poisonous and the highest is not poisonous. The lowest cures 6 out of every 10 diseases and leaves poison in the body. The middle cures 7 of every 10 diseases and leaves a little poison in the body. Even the highest cures only 9 of every 10 diseases. Diseases that cannot be cured with medicine, can only be cured with food." - Nei Ching or The yellow emperor's book of internal medicine
